Chad Barrett first day at Vålerenga
Chad Barrett (27) signed today Vålerenga. The tip comes from the American club Los Angeles Galaxy in Major League Soccer. Initially, Barrett hired for the rest of the Norwegian season, but Vålerenga has secured an option to purchase.
- Chad Barrett is a quick striker who is good at getting the chances. He is very professional and we believe he still has a development potential. We loan him out in the first place this season, and we eventually an assessment as to whether we are going to buy him, says Martin Andresen vif-fotball.no.
- Chad was here a week earlier this summer and we had a very good impression of him. He is a good supplement to the player group and is a winner type of American attitudes that we need.
We are working hard getting ready for Barrett to play tomorrow's game against Haugesund, but it is uncertain whether all documents and permits will be ready in time.

LA Galaxy vs Revs Lineup Prediction
Landon Donovan missed training again Thursday, and Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena acknowledged afterward his captain could miss this weekend's game against New England because of a quadriceps strain.
“We've kept him out,” Arena said after Thursday's practice at Home Depot Center. “He's got some nagging injuries. Since he's come back, he's had a bunch, and we've kept him out of training trying to get him at 100 percent.”
The Galaxy had Paolo Cardozo in Donovan's spot on the right flank in a full-field intrasquad exercise Thursday. Marcelo Sarvas was on the left wing, in place of Mike Magee, who trained partially but was held out of the full-field scrimmage because, Arena said, his situation is “kind of similar to Landon.”
Does Arena expect Magee to be available?
“I'll know tomorrow,” the coach said. “He's likely, I would say.”

First Buddle now Juninho
The LA Galaxy announced on Tuesday that the club has reached an agreement with Brazilian club São Paulo FC that will allow midfielder Juninho to return to the Galaxy on loan for the 2012 MLS season.
Additionally, the Galaxy have completed the signing of former São Paulo defender Leonardo, who joins the club permanently on a free transfer. Juninho and Leonardo each played for the Galaxy during the 2010 and 2011 seasons, helping the club repeat as Supporters’ Shield winners and win their third MLS Cup last season. Per club and league policy, terms of the contracts, were not disclosed.
Juninho, who is scheduled to return to Southern California next week ahead of the Galaxy’s preseason trip to Arizona, was an All-Star for the Galaxy last season and has been an ever-present force in the center of the Galaxy midfield over the past two seasons, starting 55 regular-season games as well as six of the club’s seven postseason matches. One of the breakout stars in MLS last season, the 23-year-old appeared in and started 30 regular-season games for the Galaxy, scoring four goals and adding two assists while combining with David Beckham in the central midfield.
But according to São Paulo FC spokesman Felipe Espindola, manager Emerson Leão determined there would be no room for Juninho on the squad this season due to the number of midfielders currently on the roster. It was judged to be best for the player to arrange for a return to LA.
“Juninho is not going to be utilized at São Paulo [this season] per the coach’s decision and the club is accepting the loan deal for Juninho’s return to Los Angeles to play for the Galaxy,” Espindola told MLSsoccer.com on Tuesday.

Buddle is Back
The LA Galaxy announced today that the club has signed forward Edson Buddle on a free transfer. One of the top goal scorers in Galaxy and MLS history, Buddle spent the past year playing with FC Ingolstadt of the German 2. Bundesliga after leaving the Galaxy in January 2011
“I am thrilled to be able to return to MLS and a club that has meant so much to me in my career,” Buddle said. “When I left for Germany last winter, I said that I hoped to be able to one day return to the Galaxy and help lead the club to an MLS Cup championship. That day is today and I look forward to the challenges that now lie ahead.”
"We’re really excited to have Edson re-joining the LA Galaxy,” General Manager and Head Coach Bruce Arena said. “He has been an outstanding player for us in the past and we look forward to him continuing that success for many years to come."

David Beckham Re-signs with LA Galaxy
The LA Galaxy announced today that the club has re-signed midfielder David Beckham to a two-year contract, extending his stay with the MLS Cup Champions.
"This was an important decision for me,” Galaxy midfielder David Beckham said. “I had many offers from clubs from around the world, however, I'm still passionate about playing in America and winning trophies with the Galaxy.”
"I've seen first hand how popular soccer is now in the States and I'm as committed as ever to growing the game here," he added. "My family and I are incredibly happy and settled in America and we look forward to spending many more years here."
Bruce Arena
“I am thrilled that David has chosen to re-join the Galaxy, especially as he had numerous options where he could continue his career,”“I felt that he was one of the best players in all of MLS last season and we could not have achieved the success that we did without him. We look forward to trying to replicate that success this season with David once again in a Galaxy uniform.”

What do you do with Miguel Lopez?
I have to see. See what he can give in practice . Today I have a (Miguel) Caneo, to (Fernando) Brandon, I want to see if I can give something different. Let's see if he gets a chance, I'll see in the coming days.
Here is some more Info on Lopez return
Sao Paulo FC announce Juninho is back
- How was your experience in the United States Soccer?
There were two very good years. The first adaptation, but I was well and they wanted to renew. We were conference champions west. But this year was much better, just got out of a card or other game or injury, always playing the holder and alongside great players. We were crowned with the title and grown a lot as a player and as a person too.
- You did pre-season in St. Paul in January, why not stay?
They [LA Galaxy] had a preference for renewal and it was important for me to play there again. And it was very good to me. Now it's different, I gained more experience, more moral. Management is relying on me and Leo is very good for young people. I have to prove that I belong here.
- The cast is full of players from the base. Have you ever played with someone?
I worked with several and I am very happy to reconnect with their friends to fight for position with them.
- How do you see the race for the position?
The Sao Paulo team is great, top team. The competition is great, but each with its characteristic, everyone will fight. You must be available, train well, work hard and show that deserves to play.
- As you come to Sao Paulo?
Moreira Sport and playing for a game against Sao Paulo in Barueri, the children's category, the Cilinho [who was coordinator of the basic categories of São Paulo at the time] saw me and took me to play.
- He found players like Muller, Silas and Sydney. Have any meaning?
I hope that this will happen and I can shine here as well.
- What was the biggest lesson the United States?
Coming to a country without knowing anyone and make history, turning idol, is very significant. It brings a lot of experience. Living abroad, turning in another language [now speaks English and Spanish] was also important.
- What do you expect for 2012?
A special year for me. I am returning to the club that I designed and I will get my statement on the team. I hope that with titles.
